Understanding the dynamics of the cell cycle is essential for studying cell growth, proliferation, and apoptosis. Our Cell Cycle Assay Kit provides a reliable and easy-to-use method for analyzing cell cycle distribution using flow cytometry. This kit enables accurate quantification of cells in the G₀/G₁, S, and G₂/M phases, as well as identification of apoptotic cells through the detection of sub-G1 DNA content.
Designed for use with a variety of cultured cells, this assay is ideal for researchers studying cancer biology, drug screening, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis.
In healthy cells, DNA content varies predictably during the cell cycle:
This kit uses a DNA-binding fluorescent dye that allows researchers to measure DNA content in individual cells. After treating the cells with RNase to degrade interfering RNA, the dye binds specifically to DNA, and the fluorescence intensity can be measured using flow cytometry.
In apoptotic cells, DNA fragmentation occurs due to the activation of endogenous nucleases. This degradation results in a measurable sub-G1 peak during flow cytometry analysis, allowing researchers to distinguish apoptotic from healthy cells.
