Reversing Alzheimer's Disease?

Reversing Alzheimer's Disease?

Feb 19, 2018

We have some very exciting news to start off the week!

It looks like scientists may have found a way (or at least a clue) towards treating Alzheimer's Disease. The researchers at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute conducted an experiment where they slowly depleted the BACE1 enzyme in mice with Alzheimer's Disease. This enzyme produces the beta-amyloid peptide and can lead to amyloid plaques in the brain. This led to the reversal of amyloid plaques in the mice brains over time in the experiment.

There is still work to be done to fine tune this process for use as a treatment or cure, but this is a great start!
